Why does Vinted charge a buyer fee?
Buyers pay it at checkout. Vinted’s help page says the old name is changing, and that sellers are not charged this fee.
What to do
- Open the order summary and read the Vinted fee on that order.
- Treat Item Verification, Electronics Verification, Bump, and Showcase as optional extras with their own prices.
- If a help article still says the old name, use Vinted’s rename page: it says both names are the same fee.
- Compare the buyer total and what the seller keeps before you list the same item elsewhere.

Why does Vinted add a fee for the buyer?
The checkout charge is the Vinted fee, usually 3% to 8% plus £0.30 to £0.80, shown on the order summary. People still search for the Vinted Buyer Protection fee. Vinted’s help page says that name is changing, and that the calculation is not.
Read the order summary before you pay. The figure on that screen is the one that applies to this order. A range on a price list is not a quote for every item.
Vinted’s “Vinted fee” help page says the charge is mandatory at checkout. It says the fee usually includes a percentage plus a fixed amount, written as 3% to 8% + £0.3 to £0.8, and that the total, including VAT, is shown in the order summary. It says the fee varies with the item, the order value, and whether the order is a single item or a bundle. It says the fee helps Vinted run the platform, including its refund policy when an item from a non-professional seller is lost, damaged, or significantly not as described. Source
Vinted’s help page “About the Vinted fee” says Vinted’s Buyer Protection fee is getting a new name, the Vinted fee. It says this is not a new or additional fee, the calculation is not changing, and buyers still pay it at checkout. It also says there are still no selling fees, and that some help articles may still show the old name while the rename is rolled out. Both names refer to the same fee. Source
Did Vinted rename the buyer fee?
Yes, according to Vinted’s own help page and its UK price list. The price list now uses the name “Vinted fee”. The help page says the way the fee is calculated is not changing, and that you may still see the old name in some articles.
A news report of Vinted’s email gives the date the rename was due to start. Check the app if you are asked to accept updated terms. This page cannot see your account.
On 7 September 2026 the Liverpool Echo reported that Vinted had emailed customers about terms changes from 8 October 2026. The report quotes the email as saying Vinted’s Buyer Protection fee would be renamed the Vinted fee, that this was not a new or additional fee, and that it stayed visible at checkout. Source
How much is the Vinted fee?
Use the checkout total. The published range is a band, not one rate for every order. It can differ for a bundle and for a different item price.
Optional extras are separate. Item Verification and Electronics Verification are listed at fixed prices on the price list, and you can see them on the item page before you add them. A Bump or a Showcase is optional for the seller, and the price list says those prices are shown when you pay for them.

Vinted’s UK price list, labelled last updated 08.10.2026, names the same checkout charge the Vinted fee and repeats “usually 3% to 8% + £0.3 to £0.8”, including VAT, shown in the order summary. It lists optional buyer services: Item Verification at £10 and Electronics Verification at £5, each shown on the item page. For sellers it says a Bump may last 3 or 7 days, with the fee shown at payment, and that a Showcase fee and duration are shown at checkout. Source
Do sellers pay this fee as well?
Vinted’s help page says there are no selling fees, and that buyers continue to pay this checkout charge. That is not the same as saying every optional tool is free. A Bump or a Showcase is a choice, with the price shown at the time you buy it.
If you are pricing a listing, look at what the buyer will be asked to pay, not only the number you type in.
What if I am selling somewhere else?
If you already have a Vinted export, you can bring those listings across as private drafts and check each one before you publish. Read move from Vinted and who pays return postage.
SilentSale® is a UK marketplace for private individuals. Buyer and seller each contribute £0.30 + 3% of the item price to SilentCover® (£0.60 each on a £10 item), a discretionary protection service. Stripe processes the payment and holds the funds until the order is completed. You can choose tracked Shipping or PIN Pickup. PIN Pickup means the buyer pays in the app, inspects the item in person, then shares a 6-digit PIN. There is no cash, and there is no dispute after the PIN. This is a different model. It is not a promise that one marketplace is cheaper or safer for every sale.
Stripe processes payments and holds funds until the order completes.
PIN Pickup is an in-person handover. The buyer inspects the item before sharing their six-digit PIN; the seller enters it in the app to complete the order. The PIN is acceptance. There is no shipping, tracking or post-handover dispute window.
