Depop suspended my account with no explanation. What now?

Depop’s help page says it may act without a direct notice. The appeal is a form, and a person reviews it.

What to do

  1. Save the email or screen that says the account is suspended. Note the date.
  2. Appeal with the link in a content email, or the form on the suspension page. Attach evidence.
  3. Do not send login codes to anyone offering to restore the account.
  4. Leave open Depop orders on Depop. A new marketplace account does not move them.

  1. Why has Depop suspended my account without explaining?

Depop’s suspension page says that while its goal is to give users as much information as possible about actions on an account, it may sometimes need to take action without notifying you directly. “No explanation” matches that second half. It does not tell you which reason was used on your account.

The reasons it lists, especially if repeated, are prohibited items, inappropriate content, transacting off Depop, abusive behaviour or harassment, and fraudulent behaviour. It also says an account may be temporarily suspended while you respond to a Resolution Centre issue or verify account information.

Only the notice, if you have one, and the appeal outcome can say which of those applied. This page cannot see your account.

  2. How do I appeal a Depop suspension?

Depop’s appeals policy, updated 15 February 2024, says an appeal exists so a person can review the decision. Machine-learning tools sometimes send a case to a person. The same policies apply whether the process was automated or not.

If Depop removed a listing, the email contains a unique link, and that link is only for that email. Use the link you were sent. For other problems, use the request form and attach the evidence you have. The suspension page also says you can submit an appeal.

Depop says a person then emails one of four outcomes: the decision is overridden and the account reactivated; the appeal is denied because the original decision was correct; the decision is overridden but other infringements still block reactivation; or the original reason was wrong but a different breach remains. Once the appeal has been reviewed and actioned, that is the final decision.

Do not pay anyone who says they can lift the suspension from outside Depop. Do not share login codes.

  3. What should I gather before I send the form?

Save any email, the date access stopped, and screenshots of listings you believe were misunderstood. Keep order numbers for sales that were in progress. A suspension does not, on these pages, move those sales to another app.

If buyers are waiting, reply from inside Depop if you still can. If you cannot, say that in the appeal.

A tax-information request is a different message. If you have been asked for a National Insurance number, use the answer on a marketplace asking for a National Insurance number, and check your own situation with HMRC. This is not personal tax advice.

Read marketplace scams so a “we will unsuspend you” message does not take your password. For a Vinted ban, use Vinted account suspended. The rules are not the same.

  4. Can I sell on SilentSale® while Depop reviews the appeal?

You can apply to sell on SilentSale® if you meet its own rules. A Depop suspension is not a SilentSale® decision, and a SilentSale® account does not reverse a Depop one.

SilentSale® is a UK marketplace for private individuals aged 18 and over. Buyer and seller each contribute £0.30 + 3% of the item price to SilentCover® (£0.60 each on a £10 item), a discretionary protection service. Stripe processes payments and holds funds until the order completes. You choose tracked Shipping, with 72 hours after delivery to report an issue, or PIN Pickup, where the buyer inspects and then shares a 6-digit PIN. There is no cash and no dispute after the PIN.

PIN Pickup is an in-person handover. The buyer inspects the item before sharing their six-digit PIN; the seller enters it in the app to complete the order. The PIN is acceptance. There is no shipping, tracking or post-handover dispute window.

For Shipping, report problems within 72 hours after confirmed delivery, or the collection scan for a locker or parcel-shop order. Confirming receipt closes the window early, so inspect first.

Questions people ask

Is “no explanation” against Depop’s own page?

The suspension page says Depop wants to give information, and that it may still act without notifying you directly. Use the appeal so a person reviews the case.

Will the appeal be read by a person?

Depop’s appeals policy says a person reviews the appeal and the evidence you send. It also says the first decision may have been automatic. The appeal outcome is emailed, and that review is final.

How many times can I appeal?

The appeals policy says that once the appeal has been reviewed and actioned, that is the final decision. Send the evidence with the first appeal.

Does a SilentSale® account unsuspend Depop?

No. SilentSale® only handles SilentSale® orders. Depop’s appeal is the route Depop’s help page gives for a Depop suspension.
